Is it a tall variety or a mutation. I have never seen one as tall, letus see how it blooms.

Early sowing of seeds taken from tall cockscomb variety(F-1) results in what you see.......

this is the wild type.Farhan is there any F-1 cocks combs.please if any i want to know the variety.

Mutation.. i am not sure.. but you can observe similar features in cosmos sulphureus, one plant behaved as a perennial..!! it survived 2 years.. some plants grow above 6 feet and dont bloom..

True they keep growing and do bloom mostly it is a vegitative growth.

the wild cocks comb bloom but the blooms are of poor quality.it can gain hight up to 8 ft.

Finally it has bloomed having achieved eleven feet.

I will save and sow some seeds to see if it is a mutation or a freak.

This is the tall variety and the blooms are no way insignificant. Atleast a foot wide. Plant height is 4-5 feet with me and i have never seen this in any nursery. Nursery man say that they are not growing this variety any more. Seeds are available with me if anyone interested.
