Anyone tried hoya vines?

My experience was not good as far as fragrance is concerned, one smelled like rancid peanuts!!!

would they tolerate direct sun ? Can be planted outdoors?

One my acquaintance, a lady in Hawaii grows them (some varieties) in open sun but the humidity over there is very high, while many grow them as bathroom plants, near the ventilation.
