Best three fragrant plants

Nice scented topic to discuss Mr.Arif!! I will add a little according to my knowledge.
If I am looking for nice and mild fragrance then I will go for the following
1. Tuberose
Because its fragrance is so different from all the fragrant families and they are also nice to look at and if you put few stalks in a vase of water you may enjoy the fragrance in your bedroom for couple of days. and another reason is that its a tuber and I LOVE tubers
2. Rangoon
Because this is also mild in scent and is a beautiful climber, have beautiful flowers with magic of changing its colour
3. Jasmine
Nice and mild again but few do consider it as strong and everyone’s favourite, nice flower can be used in door in a tray because it last for at least one full day or depend on the condition can last for 2 days

And if I am after something that can be used to scent the whole garden then I will go for the following
4. Rat ki rani
Because it can be smelled from miles and miles away and got a beautiful fragrance, is also known for some controversial stories because of its such strong scent
5. Chambali
Is also one of the beautiful usually full of bloom and have nice strong fragrance

Not sure about other renowned names for fragrance because I didn’t experience them so I’m not in a position to say something though I heard a lot about some names now I will must try them.

i searched the net for most fragrant plants and found Cananga odorata, claimed to be very fragrant. Infact its called perfume tree and its oil is used for perfumes.

"The fragrance of ylang-ylang is rich and deep with notes of rubber and custard, and bright with hints of jasmine and neroli".

Farhan Sahab, You will be surprised that I do have Cananga odorata (dwarf one) but it is NOT fragrant!! This is what I have heard about real Cananga odorata as well. The flowers become fragrant in hot and humid weather and probably when you have hundreds of flowers on a larger tree. I was slightly disappointed. Yes if you do crush the flower petals then you smell a sweet unique fragrance. The flowers yield a yellow coloured oil on distillation which is a unique typical "south asian" fragrance.

I also had Desmos chinensis, (same family, very similar flowers as Cananda) the flowers were fragrant like rose oil but my plant died due to lack of care.

I am novice in this field.....but i see only one person mentioned Plumeria/Frangipani.......

Yes I did not ask for a list of fragrant plants of your liking. It is your choice restricted to three, keeping in view your location, available garden space and EXPERIENCE.
My computer developed a fault and one of my posts was lost.
I am glad Pulmaria and Rangoon creeper got mentioned. Scent of pulmaria is second to none and it bears hundreds of flowers for a long tlme. As I have mentioned in another post It is the one with white flower having yellow heart and leaves with rounded edges. Every day I place 3-4 flowers in my car for refreshing scent.
Rangoon creeper, does not let anyone pass without looking for the source of fragrance and it blooms repeatedly.

My request, let us not stray from the main topic.

The topic has been interesting and is of great guidance to me. For fragrance in the HOUSE I will have ;
Lots of Motias, Vines of Chambalies, Rangoon creeper, wisteria, Yalang Yalang and at least Three shrubs of Chinese Marwa, a pulmeria, White fragrant Axora and a couple of Rat-ki-Rani.

Roses, Gardenias and other have there place for other reasons.

i grow dianthus it is extremely fragrant and easy to grow from seeds flower are have variety of colours

frangi pani is good tree but it throws leave problem for lawn
motia is good for romance
har singhar is good climber too

Dianthus is an annual is fragrant like many others.
All plants shed leaves.
I have yet to see a clinber Har Singhar, please make me wiser.

Haar singhaar is Nyctanthes arbortristis. It is a small tree. They have highly fragrant white flowers with a very characteristic orange coloured tube. A cheap susbtitute for colouring rice.

Rangoon creeper is the Quisqualis indica (also mistakenly called dulhan bail by some nurserymen). This one is a climber.

for me:

1. Gardenia
2. Dwarf marwa
3. Brunfelsia latifolia.

I've recently bought brunfelsia its colour changing flower and its sweet scent (quite similar to desi chambeli but I guess it is more strongly scented and 1 flower can last for atleast 3 4 days on the plant unlike chambeli) makes it a very interesting fragrant flowering bush.
