Dear Friends,
AOA, I have bought some Anthurium and Gerbera in Feb' 16 from the exhibition and they were fine untill last week as all of them suddenly starts dying. Leaves are fine and green but the bottom of leaf starts turning brown and eventually leaf falls off. I double checked over watering and there is no overwatering. Might be the high temp in karachi during last three weeks but the plant is in shade and the other one in airconditioned room. same problem with Gerbera. For your expert analysis I am attaching herewith few pics.
Needs your advice please, specially Izhar Bhai.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sudden problem with Anthurium and gerbera
It is due to high chlorine and dissolved salts in tap water... I have a lot of big established plants suffering due to this... for small plants I started using AC condensate waste...
Moreover, they are greenhouse grown plants which rarely survive 6-7 months or remain in miserable conditions.. have you fed them anything??

Re: Sudden problem with Anthurium and gerbera
Thank you Izhar Sb for your expert input. I am already using A/C water and fed them with Osmocote. Your are right as these are greenhouse grown plants and every year this happens to me. I bought them from sea view exhibition in Feb and eventually they die by may or june despite every care, even putting the in A/C room. What I understand is that the main reason is excessive heat !!!! especially in last month in karachi.
Please do also tell from where I can seeds of Gardenia so that plant form seed will be more tolerable to our climate as compared to these green house grown. I have ordered the seeds twice from Thompson & Morgon but the seeds still didn't arrived.
Shall I try green house for these plants ( in that case the greenhouse will again increase the heat for the plants.
Please advice.
Many thanks in advance Izhar Bhai for your advice.
Regards
Asif

Re: Sudden problem with Anthurium and gerbera
Better to buy gardenia plants from nurseries, select the healthy plants with fresh leaves... they are easily available in nurseries on Korangi road..
