Re: Hello from India
Not a fan of chrysanthemums but the variety and the vigour of these blooms could not hold me back from buying these beauties. Probably its in our mindset that we only need the rare varieties and not ones commonly seen as we grew up like chrysanthemums, celosia, portulacas, cannas, lantana, etc. Though these boring varieties have amazing hybrids and variants now but probably the prejudices guide our decisions.
I visited the annual chrysenthmum show of the city and decided to buy four of the varieties. My favourite from this collection are the green buttons (that's the name I have been able to search) and the white daisy type ones. Wish to propagate more from cuttings (human desires.. No end to that). Some clicks from the event follow.

Re: Hello from India
The new ones nowadays are multiflora types... they dont require any pinching or staking.. they grow into round-shape and produce numerous small blooms...

Re: Hello from India
the dahlias (dahlia beauty mixed) grown from seed are not gaining height, at least that's what i think. Please correct me if i am wrong. There are 3 dahlias growing in a vegetable crate. One has reached a height of 12 inch approx, not budding though and the other two are close to 12 inches and budding. Is there anything i can do to increase their height. Because if these flower at this stage it would be a very stoop plant. I expected them to grow atleast 2-3ft. Would pinching off the bud help?

Re: Hello from India
This non-uniformity problem occurs in open pollinated seed grown dahlias... yes, do take the bud off and apply very small amount of urea..

Re: Hello from India
as advised in an earlier post i fed my dahlias with urea and then dap weekly in granular form.. but i want to know why my dahlias are not sending a single center long stem which carries the flower... instead its growing like a compact bush of 1 feet height.. do we need to grow our dahlias in some specific way.. or could these dahlias be a dwarf variety?.. plz advise..
