Prepairing soil

Post by saram2 »

Aoa everyone,
I am a beginner at gardening... and have been reading up forum posts forquite some time now.
My interests lie in food gardening... and as must people have suggested on this forum... i have purchased bhaalu mitti and ojhri ki khaad.. i just have a few questions if you all would be so kind to help

1. The khaad is a stinking hell... not joking... the stink is soooo bad.. its insane... i plan on indoor plants too.. so im quite confused as to how to mask the smell.... do i leave the khaad in the sun for a few days or some trick??

2. Is ojhri ki khaad safe for food gardening. . Like herbs, fruits and vegetables

Thank you

If it is stinking than it is not ready... a well rotted ojhri ki khaad smells like fresh cut grass.....

Ojhri ki khaad is best for all herbs, fruits, flowers and Vegetables...

What you can do is to dry the khaad under sun and use after drying so the stinking ammonia dissipates..

Izhar I recently came across a plant from Karachi and transplanted it. The bhal/bhalu mitti was the classic yellow color/sandstone color but I never actually felt any soil so soft n well draining. Tell me about your local soil

Yes this is our typical baalu mitti... it is completely devoid of nutrients and does not hold water well... it is ideal for rooting cuttings and seed germination.. it must be mixed with organic stuff so as to sustain plant life..
