AYK wrote:Thanks all. I have replaced the top soil over the weekend. Mixed with a small proportion khaad. Hope it works.
Also can someone advise on the use of water soluble fertiliser applied through spray pump. The supplier suggested it will make the plants green, healthy and improve growth.
Water soluble fertilizers will promote algae growth, the same thing, which you are trying to get rid of. Khaad is best for potted plants. It is also good practice to gently change the whole pot soil at least once a year.

First of all, your assertion that algae is causing yellowing and falling of leaves may not be correct. The presence of algae means that the pot always remained moist, the light was good and you did not do tilling for some time which allowed algae to grow. Algae and plants easily co exist because in nature they do. I suspect you might have been overwatering the plant which caused yellowing and falling of leaves. I also feel that there was no need to repot the plant in this weather just to get rid of algae. I pray that your plant survives but next time if you get algae, please check watering sequence and just do a bit of tilling. It's natural to have algae on moist pots / soil with good light and nothing worrisome.

Update on the fungus treatment. Soil replacement and limited watering helped in getting rid of the green fungus.
