Re: Garden Log 2014-15
Sunlight has become a rarity. Back to back weather systems, complete February has been wet, hadn't been my soil sandy, it would have been a complete mess. Soil here drains very well. On the other hand unlike previous years, support measures such as use of staking has help me a lot by saving plants from flopping. Only real damage has come to seedlings which couldn't out grow due weather or are non-tolerant of water logging such as Larkpur F-1 and Salpiglosis. I would recommend both for pot planting as single over-watering mistakes fails them.....
Many plants do benefit from rain, it extends life, by extending season, more vegetative growth, deep watering effect etc. Some updates as of now. Blooms have been delayed and are scarce.
Overall Picture.

Nasturtiums flower well in poor conditions...Rain doesn't let them happen.
Calendulas, Nemesias and Dimors still doing great despite continuous rain pounding... how, so ordinary can be.... so bright.

I strongly believe and preach landscaping....initially yes its single specimen, followed by endeavors to make appealing borders, but finally it has to be medley of plants in a landscape, even through arrangement of pots.

Nemesia and Bellis

A full border of Mix anemones. I am hopeful it would look great when all will be in bloom

Early blooms of Freesia, spraxis and ranunculus

i have accompanied Emila with Lagnus and elsewhere with brachycome, i believe they will go together well.

I am greatly impressed with venidiums, continues to grow in cold weather, is early to bloom with huge 4 inch flower and has a glossy/silvery foliage.

Arctotis has proven to be perennial even in hot climate of Risalpur with little summer care. This is single plant which has grown around 3x3 feet. Highly recommended

another shade

Petunia Alladin orange

Greenheart

The contrast, Nasturtium Mahagony and milkmaid.

Lupin sunspot tall cultivar, Couldn't grow taller with me as it suffered from wet condition.

another of my favorite

Failed to grow them well this season

Alstromeria were widely available in nurseries this year, priced at Rs200 to Rs.300 per plant. Has shown good growth till now and is flowering with all members who purchased it. Maybe it could survive indoors in our summer

what a weed
