My artabotrys has several branches here are probably just half the blooms under one branch. Intense intoxicating fragrance this evening easily smelt from maybe 30 feet or more.

Various plants and blooms

Post by aykhan »

Yes it is a vine. The tree is Cananga odorata and the dwarf tree is Cananga fruiticosa. Many more fragrant beauties in this family like Desmos chinensis, Mitrephora etc. This is likely the most fragrant of all but you can't see the flowers and the vine might get huge and untidy. Does not twine but forms something like a rambling bush. Will remember to put a wide angle shot of this vine tomorrow insha'Allah.

Izhar it should do even better in Karachi with many more fragrant months just due to the higher and longer humidity in Karachi. It's a must have if there is enough space for this since it can get quite big. I bought this along with Khabbab last year from Pattoki in a 14 inch pot. I will air layer it this monsoon to control it's size however I presume the bigger one lets it get the better since more blooms and therefore more fragrance. Along with my marwa tree this is undoubtedly the most fragrant plant in my entire yard, and I have quite a few fragrant plants...
