Re: Forcing growth
Also, Globemaster under 20cm size won't bloom at all ... not even in netherlands. So you gotta have 20cm plus bulbs. The ones I got are 22cm and I hope to see blooms if I could get them to start sprouting in fridge.

Re: Forcing growth
Adnan,
To conclude, the globe master bulbs require more chilling period then is natural in Lahore so they should be pre chilled for 300-400 hours before planting in 3rd week of November. Expect flowers in April and when the foliage browns pull them out and store in refrigerator until re-plantation.
OK that is what I will do. If I can get them to re-bloom the next year,
They stay on the list.

Here is the excerpt from what the experts say about growing alliums in Arizona.tweedle2009 wrote:A good point that came out of this conversation is that they came back for Khabbab the next year.I m staying positive.I have also put some in moist coco peat in refridgerator.I expect them to develope roots before I plant them out in Late Nov.
Alliums -P Nov & 2-3" - a local expert said most of the alliums do well here except for the giant/large ones. Sunset shows a lot of big ones grow in our area. When growing small-headed alliums, mass the bulbs as they multiply rapidly. Alliums with onion odor only give it off when they are bruised or cut. Following are some of the varieties of small-headed ones: A. cerulean/azureum (blue garlic), A. moly (golden garlic), A. Neapolitan (Naples garlic), and A. sphaerocephalum (drumstick).
And here is another reply from one of my gardening friends from malaysia:

Hi,
Thanks for your mail. I tried to get some allium seed or bulb, but no one willing to trade. Later, a gardener told me that, allium need warm but not hot summer. So, I gave up. I only grow amaryllis .
regards,
Cheah
Last, check D-22 from Arizona plant list of drought tolerant plants http://ag.arizona.edu/pima/gardening/xe ... tlist.html
