Begonia growing from cutting

Just got some Begonia cuttings.I have potted them but the leaves are drying.Do i have to keep them in water till the roots form?

Brother I would suggest that you keep cuttings in a place where temperature is mild and fluctuation is minimum. Dont water them too much, just keep the soil moist. Water the container from the bottom and not from the top. Did you use the rooting hormones while planting the cuttings?

If you keep begonia cuttings in water, even if they survive and develop roots, these will be aquatic roots. These roots which many plants can develop are resistant to rotting and have the ability to directly absorb minerals from water. They have a different structure. When you will put a plant with aquatic roots in the soil, it will again have to transform its roots for the soil, which are capable of absorbing minerals from the soil when moist. They may or may not be able to complete this transformation, IMHO, and you might not be able to achieve the intended results.

Thanks KBW for the help.No i dont have the rooting hormone.Will follow your suggestions.
