@Umer Well i am not the rose expert perhaps Mr KBW or Umar khan or Dr amir can better guide you. But i never needed to spray even once on all the 4 roses i have in pot and they are all prolific bloomers, Being my first year i am removing all their buds till next spring:
1- Own root burgundy Ice berg.
2- Grafted Asma sharifa
3- Grafted double delight
4- Own root pink sunblaze (miniature)

The nursery you talk about with large roses, do they know the varieties of what they carry?

I doubt the mother plants will be own root unless desi gulab bushes. Probably old grafted plants.

Re: rose buying trip to pattoki
well its not a standard term, nursery men use this word for the established rose which is not own root mostly, this plant is used as a source of buds for grafting onto root stock , and selling the the product in rose season. I guess they must have own roots too, but i mostly saw grafted ones which were well established being referred to as mother plants.KBW wrote:Umer bhai! What exactly do you mean by a mother plant. Do you mean original own route / grafted rose that was imported or you are just talking about a 3-4 yes old bush which is now very well established?

They sell it 250rs a piece, and they had absolutely no idea what they were selling, just a simple walayti ghulab is their answer. Mr aykhan, i really like your strawberry hill, could you please share the source of your david austins.

Most of my David Austin's were brought from overseas and a few from Changa. Changa has most well known varieties of roses but it depends what Haji Saheb decides to graft for the coming year. If you request nice I think if he has a rose he will graft for you. However for this year I think the grafting might be done already. Let's see what we have this year. Eager to visit Pattoki mid-November.

Dear mr ay khan.
I am sure I will find d.a. from pattoki this season. If not changa then definitely others will have. I am gonna be lookin for scepter d isle. Strawberry hill . Jude obscure. Heritage. Abe darby. Graham thomas. Queen of sweden. And maybe few Crimson d.a.s.
Your strawberry hill is indeed a kind offer and I will trade you after this buying season. So far all my roses are not properly identified. And I fear its impossible to do so accurately. Pls do speak your mind about your fancy this season, be that I also have something to interest you, for your collection.
Plz do recommend roses of similar types which would be better suited for lahore.
