Roses..... Sep 2013

Post by KBW »

Though I am yet not fully settled at a new place and do no have much space but could not stay away from the roses for long. Attempting to grow them in pots which has never been my preferred method but for the time being, it's better to have roses in pots than no roses at all.

Liked the unique double shade of this miniature rose, purple from inside and pink from outside. It is flowering non-stop.

This ownroot rose is growing well. The weather is excellent, just warm with lot of sunshine mostly and despite application of a 6:12:12 fertilizer and good care, the growth rate is noway close to the growth rate of my roses back in Pakistan. I really miss my roses. This one is on the bloom. The flowers are good size, cream / white and are heavily scented. Like this rose.

Will post more pics, soon.

Hello.. The roses you have are mini-roses! They will grow slowly and do quite well indoors beside a window where you're living. A heads up, check the actual plant, usually they stick 3 or 4 or even 5 plants in a pot so they are more full and showy in stores. You might have to separate them if that's the case and then hope for the actual growth! Mini-roses are really pretty, imo.

And North York eh? I've been a resident there for a couple years myself! ;)

Sir the first one is a miniature rose. The second one is a full size own root bush with large fragrant flowers and is around 24" in height at this moment. I am actually a bit off-season for roses here. Some of the well estalished bushes, which have been maintained well by owners and have been regularly dead headed are still flowering but many of the other bushes are already done for the season. :)

The white one has a strong traditional rose scent. The miniature roses have no scent.

Few more of my patio and miniature roses....

I love the blue tinge on this patio rose.

This one just looks like Rock n Roll but is small in size. It's always on the bloom.

Image

Love the crimson colour on this patio rose. Flowers are pretty large size for a patio rose but not many of them at one time.

Yellow is amongst my favourite colour in roses. I hope by next summers, this one will grow up to 12 to 18 inches, a very nice height for a patio rose. The bush seems quite healthy.

Image

This deep orange miniature remained full of flowers during summers but is now on the decrease.

I intend planting these patio and miniature roses in the ground tomorrow if I get back from fishing early. My worry is that winters are approaching and here, they are pretty harsh. Temperature nowadays is like Min 13* and max 20* C and it is likely to stay like that for another 15 days. Other option is to keep them inside in a sunny window where they wont grow very well but will hopefully survive. What do you guys say about it?
