I do not think this forum will completely die but we must remember that the important thing is not the forum but the important thing is the interaction between the wonderful people here. Remember most posts here are from people who want to share a bloom or ask a question requiring a quick answer. This is much more effectively done on social media like Facebook. It is easier there and more fun and people get rapid responses without any navigation at all.

I strongly believe that social media is the best place for interaction and I use the Facebook page of Gardening Pakistan frequently. The sadness you feel here with less people active is what I am experiencing on the Facebook page of the forum. I suggest efforts be made to get the people joining that page, it is much more interactive and less formal. I find it easier to use and communicate on. I am almost daily posting pictures there of my blooms since it is easier. The forum will remain but it cannot be what social media is. They both fulfill different requirements
I agree that facebook is convenient, however we cannot write as much we write here. A comment exceeding 4 lines is usually ignored. Anyway, the idea is to get in touch with hobbyists...at least now I know that there is another Bauhinia and Pandanus fan! Facebook can also serve that purpose well. It might be worthwhile to popularize both platforms.

But look at the statistics: There are about 64 members in that fb forum. The average views of recent posts were 6-8. It means that only 6-8 people bothered to click on that update. Same situation here. With more than 1000 registered members here, but views do not exceed 10-20, let alone contributions. I think only 7-8 people contribute to the posts here. As it is true for any forum, there are always more readers than contributors. So I am not worried about contributions. Unfortunately, the readership has gone very low as well here and on that facebook group as well...which is rather sad.

If half the activity on the forum was shared on facebook I am certain it's viewership and posts would be ten times more than the forum.

Ao Munir sb yhe first one with double fresh white flowers is Flore pleno.its a non fragrant variety.its usually sold out as Gardenia but its not Gardenia at all.its also called Chandna.
The plants in second picture are Gardenia florida.the flowers are fully double with creamy white color that turns to pure yellow with passage of time.there is also verigated variety.
Flore pleno grows very well & flowers very good as it likes alkaline soil.Gardenia prefers acidic soil so the leaves usually turns yellow as our soil is mostly alkaline.
Flore pleno likes warm wet weather so this is the right time of flowering.Gardenia prefers filtered sun, long night hours to flowers so it will flower in late spring.

First we need to agree on making the Facebook page to be used as main activity forum , then there are ways to make it popular ..

This forum should not be abandoned altogether since Farhan and others have spent an infinite amount of time to organize it. We now have the database of more than 200 individual garden plants in the Flora database, which the regular readers are finding useful. Is there a way to find a balance so that both are used synergistically?

im my point of view although facebook is very important source of community link but it cannot be as useful as gardening forum.gardening forum is very easy ,with userfriendly interface.on face book we can just introduce with new posts we cannot use search option which is very handy option on forum.so abandon forum totally is a vague idea and will be harmful instead we can create harmony between two options.members which like facebook can continue their activities on face book and others which think forum is easy they can adopt forum.

Thank you Umar Sb for explaining at length. One(only out of 6-7)of the Gardenia plants that you confirmed did put up a flower, coming close to your description, about 2 months back. Waiting to see all flowering in spring next.

Munir sb ensure filtered sun & apply ferros sulphate or soil conditioner so you can gain acidic soil around your plants.Gardenias like acidic soils.
