House garden (my dream)

I found it in one of the Garden web forums and it has delighted me day after day, I wish mine could be 1/0 as good.
Neration by the forum member;
Billee went up to the owner and told him how much we had enjoyed his garden all these Years, and he invited us to tour his creation. We found the backyard to be as beautiful as the front. He is Vietnamese, shy, very soft spoken, and speaks very little English, so we couldn’t discuss too much with him about the garden.
I hope you all enjoy this as much as we did.

Amazing splash of colours... Sir it can be possible only if we have a milder climate similar to that of zone 5-7. otherwise we would have to erect a greenhouse to enjoy plants such as begonias..

Ahhhh....talking of dreams.

I guess i lived my dream as envisaged this spring despite harsh weather, scarcity of gardening aids(such as fertilizers/composts) and plants, poor climatic conditions and poor understanding of gardening as culture in our country.

If God leaves enough strength in me.....i will dream again coming fall with a better plan and plants, and the only hindrance is how much i able to put in. Cool season gardening let us do what the above picture has to offer.......

Gardening can not be judged on the outcome of plants health as an over all......The above garden has an excellent climate in which it thrives, almost pest free conditions, compost, fertilizers, pesticide...the best of it that is available in the world. No harsh phenomenon such as 240 mm rain in one day. No Sandy, alkaline soil conditions of our country.......They have all the exotics available at their doorstep whereas over here Nothing out of the box is available(seeds/seedlings/plants)......

Tell me what i and you have?????? and than think isn't what you are doing a wonder?????

Given the above conditions i am sure you will make a gardening legend of the world

Brig Arif Sir, can we mange to have some thing like this in Rawalpindi/Islamabad region .. (these days Rawalpindi is like 35-40 deg Celsius n likely to touch 45 in Jun-Jul)?

Sorry to wake you up from your dream but amazing how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Far too garish with cluttered and contrasting colours for me im afraid. English cottage garden but it so much out of fashion and so much not suited to the Pakistan climate

For instance, where would you seat your visitors, where would the children play, where do you have your privacy, shade, drinks, food etc

Some Islamic themed gardens are so much better and more suited to the needs of our members and climate. In fact some of our members here have much nicer gardens.

This looks like a typical Canadian or Northern US house and as I can see, the owner is a rich man. It's easily a two million $ house and if one has money as well as taste, it is so easy over there to call a professional nursery and they will gladly do it for few thousand bucks. This garden is a seasonal garden, stuffed with seasonal flowers. I wonder how would it look like in Aug and what would be its shape in fall?

Farhan bhai, believe me gardening is much easier in Pakistan if we grow the right plants. These guys have problems much more than ours. Our problem is that we at times (and rightly so) get too fascinated by seeing the pics of these western gardens and try to grow the same thing here which is difficult. If we just select the right plants, gardening in Pakistan is much easier in my view.

agreed sir but real beauty in gardening is with annuals (seasonal plants) perennials cant show that bright display and array of colors which is possible with annuals and here comes difference between cool climate and and hot climate.in England spring remains for at least 4 months and annuals show their full potency along with continuous showers of rain.here in Pakistan(plain areas) spring starts in march and ends in April just for 1 month so plant starts to bloom and comes to an end due to intense heat.and you are familiar with scorching heat of may-June which burns every thing.our summer annuals are also a failure due to onset of moonsoon. this season i struggled very hard to continue zinnias but failed badly they died as soon as first moon soon started.so i think we cant create display f flowers like these countries which have mild climate.

But you can replace with other plants. When there is a will there is a way.
