Re: My daylilies
I am planning to transfer my daylily seedlings to bigger pots. Is it OK at this time or should I wait till October. One plant to a pot or 3 of same type to make a clump?

Brig sb, I've planted them in the ground already. If I leave them in ground they'll multiply better but One day someone will come and take the whole lot away so I was thinking abt putting some in 14'' pots so that I can keep them for myself. They are a treat to watch when blooming in clumps.
I ve some 200+ varieties comming next month.I dnt have much space left in the ground so I'll be planting them in pots.

Re: My daylilies
You should transplant them in September so that they are well established in the soil before winter.Daylilies usually start making clumps after their first year from seed.If you have an 18'' pot then you can try 2-3 otherwise go with 1 seedling / pot.How come that you can make a guess tht you have 3 of the same type? Daylilies don't come true from seed.A seed pod always produces diffrent seedlings.Plants are diffrent from the parents more often than not.Muhammad Arif Khan wrote:I am planning to transfer my daylily seedlings to bigger pots. You are right. I ment, from the same parents. Any way I see the point, thanks. They are in 8 inch pots, why not put them in ground now?

If you can provide them protection from direct sun then you can transplant them now in ground.Make sure soil is well drained and water doesnt stay there at all during the rainy season.Raise the soil level by an inch.
