Gardenias fascinate me; 1, I love their fragrance,2. I have not been able to grow them to my satisfaction.
My Gardenia Lucida, It grows by 2 feet in summer and looses 1- 1/2 feet in winter. Gardenia Thunbergia acquired last year has 6 buds on it today. Out of 15 Varigated Gardenia Florida nine survivefd this winter and only two had one flower each.
One factor is I have not been able to improve the PH to what is required by the plant, or provide a proper location. Any suggestions?.

Sir, many acid loving plant growers suggest 1 Table spoon to 250 ml edible vinegar per 4 liters of water (depends on degree of soil alkalinity).

Another convenient product Sulfate of Iron FeSO4 (Ferrous Sulfate) is used both as fertilizer and pH reducer for acid loving plants, Gardenia falls in the same category.

Gardenia prefer dappled shade, although can be grown in open sun. Many growers keep them as house plants.

Aoa brig sb i have verigated & green leaved gardenia floridas.all plants are full of flowers.i do not even feed them on regular bases.they are in the back of my amaryllis.i have planted 6 plants some 5 years back none of them died.

Aoa Javed sb you can easily get it from Patoki.if you have Visits to Islamabad you can easily get it from there.

Dear Umar Khan sb, Do you have any contacts there at Patoki, those can send few Gardenia small plants in plastic bags, via train?
