If you had buried them in soil they would have all survived... actually they start sprouting in June again but never grow quickly, keeping them under shade or planting any ground cover over them will protect them, i grew sunflowers in the dahlia bed, the sunflowers grew and bloomed ...i fertilized and watered them as normal.. now the dahlia have come back and i have started taking cuttings from the side shoots...
These were the blooms last season:

true thats the best way to save them in the summers but since you imported them I would have suggested you sowed them in mid September and had flowers in the spring rather than now it would have been easier on the bulbs to naturalize if they had a good root base to help them through summers.

I talked to Swan Dahlia and they said one should not store dahlia in the fridge. They did say that you could keep them in a cool dark place with temp in 20s for a couple of months. I don't think they realized there is no cool place in Lahore in June outside the fridge with a constant temp in the 20s :D

Izhar I think Karachi climate is easier to manage bulbs. In Lahore we have several seasons. Just the summer is of different types starting of with warm and cool nights, then moving on to intense dry desert like heat, then the intense humidity with torrential rains and then the better part which we prefer to call Fall :D All plants survive here but a lot don't thrive so well and nee extra protection in summers AND winter.

I have an ice berg floribanda rose already it grows stems almost 6 feet tall very difficult to manage not sure I will be able to manage a standard iceberg Umar sb
I had to move the liliums to the ground when the buds formed becoz they were at the risk of being taken ;)
As per the experience last year am hoping to see them rebloom again march they are planted amongst newly saperated day lily, in the summer it will cover the liliums hoping it will save them from the summer heat
