Izhar Sb in which region u r saying that dahlia blooms are not disturbed. As I m in Lahore and my flowers don't do well without cover during night.
For petunia, I have been a lover of perennials only. And used to plant seasonal for sake of flowers and ground cover only. But from this season I started taking proper interest in seasonal. I selected seedlings from Lahore nursery based on their colors only that were available in catalogue. From next year I m gonna get into detail of varieties and I have plans to start from seeds myself.
I will work on ur advice for gladiolus. And one thing that I observed that the side which is giving max sunlight is giving long stalks. So next year I will plant them in a place with direct sun of 6 hours :)

These are the blooms from Nov-Dec. The sources were Lahore Nursery (Hadeco) and Pride Seeds (forgot the name of company from where they imported)
And I plant my newly purchased bulbs in plastic pots around two inches more then the size of bulb. After enjoying there flowers in every corner of room I shift them in 14 Inch clay pots. To grow happily in them ever after :)

Karachi has a much mild winter but LOT of dew.. so much so that in early morning if you just walk quickly you will feel water vapours on your face... everything is wet in morning.. look at the fog:

It is not the dew it is lack of sunshine which is bothering Umair.

The blooms are weak due to many factors:

1) As Brig. sb. said due to less direct sunlight
2) High Nitrogen
3) Low soluble Calcium
4) Low soluble Potash
