Re: Adinium culture
All plants survived and bloomed well.
Flowers on 21st of April 2013

I have put three of them in the ground, they have survived the rains so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed, let us see how they behave till next spring.

Now, that is some thing to think about, will it work as well in our climate?

Re: Adinium culture
It will not work unless we have a dry arid environment like that of Arab states, if we want it to work we would need excellent drainage in the ground where adenium is planted.Muhammad Arif Khan wrote:Now, that is some thing to think about, will it work as well in our climate?

Re: Adinium culture
[r1][/r1]Very rightly pointed out by Umar Khan regarding their survival in our cold winters of punjab and northwest region. The temperature in karachi is more suitable for them. The adenium mostly in nurseries are of Obesum variety which is less cold hardy. The biggest challenge is to protect from cold temp in plains of Punjab in Dec & January. There are some adenium varieties which are more cold resistant than the obesum variety. These varieties (Boehmianum , Swazicum & Multiflorum) grow wild in Africa and stand a better chance of withstanding cold. I have seen on rare occasions the Boehmianum being offered for sale. Even nursery owners are not aware of these cultivars.

I will pull them out of ground as with winter rains they are sure to die.
