Yes, you are saying right. Zinnia especially effected from Sparrow. My other flowering as well as vegetables plants safe from Sparrows as well as caterpillars. I too save my Zinnia under cage, you alredy have seen picture of my cage to save from sparrows.

As for your question trasferring plant from small pot to bigger containers. It can depends your conatiner size and availibitly of place. I think lot of peoples have mind that vegetables can grow only bigger container and even larger gardening place. But if some one living in home apparments or flats or even out side the country like you have no gardening place to grow and harvest vegetables. From this subject I try to help all those people and freinds who wish to grow vegetables and flowers at home apparment having small place and even in small pots.
Here are some fresh picture of Okara, LadyFinger (Bindi) I can grow in small pots like plastic bags or even in differnt size containe make be able to harvest fresh Lady Finger at home from starting Seed Germination till harvest . I can easily grown and harvest Okara. I think even vegetables and fresh flowers can easily germinate from seeds, if you know the right seeding time, propagation time, pruning time and finally the harvest time. Also care time by time with soil PH and Fertilizers for better growth.
Last weekend I can harvest lot's of fresh Lady Fingers on 11th May, 2013 after Seed Germination from 15th March 2013.

The flowers are different from mine because they are of yellow in color and yours are in white.

As for as Lady Finger flowers, flowers are yellow in color and inside red too.
Not only Harvest Lady Finger in small pots or plastic bags you can also harvest other summer and as well as winter vegetables too.
