Snail Vine or Vigna Caracalla bears clusters of fragrant, snail shaped like flowers which are white-colored as they unfurl, turning purple as they blossom out into little snail-shaped blooms. As they age and fall, they turn yellow.
This vine can be grown easily from seeds or by taking cuttings in July/August. Ants are drawn to its fragrant flowers and facilitate pollination by sucking the sap from the flowers.
Due to unknown reason this vine tends to die and it is advisable to take cuttings during the monsoon as an insurance.

Sir,
What is the age of your vine and was it able to survive the first year as this vine tends to die mysteriously after the first year due to unknown reasons.

Yesterday noticed two seed pods in Snail Vine (Vigna Caracalla) which hopefully ought to ripen around February which would be the ideal time for sowing its seeds as well as taking cuttings. It was mentioned on wikipedia that Thomas Jefferson termed this plant as "the most beautiful bean in the world".

Previous photo of bloom experienced in August/September.
