Re: Gerberas
Name of first gerbera is Popov which was hybridized by Scheurs and the last gerbera 'Blessing' was hybridized by Florist. Usually items names are different but product bear similarity. Below is a url where the Florist tissue culture gerbera collection can be seen.

Re: Gerberas
Last March have seen this Gerbera in a local nursery and you all will not believe its selling price, Rs:2000 (sikka rai jul waqt) and with bargain all were sold out for Rs:1500 each. What is special in this Gerbera ? Why is it expensive?

Re: Gerberas
My initial reaction was that it was raised from seed but turns out that this actually also is a tissue culture variety marketed by Florist under a different series name. Hard to believe that people are willing to dish out Rs 1500 for this Gerbera. Most probably this was imported from Holland and the cost including everything like freight/clearance charges would not have amounted to more than Rs 300 and the rest is profit.
Florist has 3-4 different Gerbera catalogs. The brochure for this series can be viewed at the following url.

Given a choice i would opt for the standard tissue culture Gerbera from Florist. This in my opinion is the most outstanding series having more attractive flower colours, shapes and varieties. This collection is imported by the nurseries in Lahore from a licensee of Florist tissue culture gerberas based in Bangalore and the cost of importing is around Rs 100 per tiny plant which till last year were sold at Rs 150 each.

Re: Gerberas
Good news for the Gerbera seekers in/around Islamabad is that double variety plants are now available in Pindi/Islamabad Nurseries @ Rs.400-500 each. Here are pictures of one bought by me yesterday from Fateh Mohammad Nursery Islamabad for Rs.400:

Re: Gerberas
This is how it is.Infact, another nursery I visited is selling even smaller & weaker plants for Rs.500 apiece. This may be for the reason of short supply in Islamabad, this season.I believe, their bulk rate in Pattoki is Rs. 250.Hamad Ahmed Kisana wrote:it is too much costly munir sb....same size is available in half price in lahore and sheikhupura.
Incidently Imran, what has happened to the arrival of the consignment from abroad, you had once mentioned?
