Re: Canna
Mr Heinie they indeed multiply very rapidly but look great when planted en masse. I have focussed on acquiring some selective varieties. Syed Adnan most of these varieties were gifts barring the dwarf tropical series which grow easily from seed. A prized rare variety acquired from India is yet to bloom whose pictures hopefully would be posted soon.

Re: Canna
Current photos of Canna Konigen Charlotte. The height of this Canna is around 12 inches making it ideal to be used in the back row with Dwarf Tropical series F1 at the front.

Re: Canna
With me Canna flowers open up one by one. Is there any trick to make all buds blooms simultaneously as above?

Re: Canna
There is no trick. I guess the timing was just right but if we look closely at the first picture there are still 3 buds yet to open.

Re: Canna
Wow.... outstanding. I fully agree that Canna without a doubt is one of the neglected ones. I call it "Landscapers Rescue Plant". A place which is hard to maintain, watering would be difficult or the soil is too boggy, soil is not good and one is lost what to plant there.... just plant Cannas specially the old varieties which are very hardy. I have always used Cannas to cover such corners where nothing else can be done and here they are.... gorgeous foliage and stunning bloom and no real care needed. The only problem with them is that after a couple of years, they are hard to remove and tend to take over the area. Isolated corners / location are the best place. But some of the new hybrids which though beautiful are not that vigourous and can be tried anywhere.
Thanks for sharing the pics Khurram sb, a real treal.

Re: Canna
Sir indeed they are invasive.I am now focussing on few historic varieties like the konigen Charlotte shown above which was awarded an rhs medal in 1883. Others include Antoine Crozy, Lucifer and President canna etc.
