Fellow members may find it very hard to believe that this pure white hibiscus sometimes gives a flower, half of whose petals are Pink and the other half are White! Any member who has a degree in horticulture or has knowledge of plant genetics may care to comment ?

Thank you. Have a couple of more colors, but they have not flowered for some reason. The White is really amazing. It gives ot a flower with half pink and half whit petals. Am waiting for it to do so this season, so I can post a picture on this forum. Also I wish some member would enlighten me on this phenomenan.

I have observed this color changing on some hibiscus tree planted around and especially the foliage. Sometimes its purplish, then green and on other instances white. Don't know the science behind.

Here is a lovely account of the mystery behind Hibiscus color change. It is all about chemistry of flower pigments.

Pigment change, I have observed. You can also observe it in the picture of the double orange which is turning yellowish. What I am talking about is that the pure white one throws out a flower half of whose petals are pink and the remaing half pure white. If it happens this season, will post a picture.
