Orchids are pretty easy to grow in Karachi. Mine are rooted either in coal or coconut palm fibre. Pots are extremely well drained with holes in sides as well. Watering is done liberally. The golden rule is"Feed weekly - weakly". I use a 19=31=17 Orchid fertilizer. Just 1/4 teaspoonful to 2 gallons of water and spray liberally over leaves and roots. The rest is upto ALLAH. I garden, atleast these days, because it gives me an opportunity to admire and adore the "Rang Berangi Qudrat" of ALLAH

Is this fertilizer combination specifically recommended for Orchids by specialists?

Yes this is Orchid specifc . I have been using orchid feed manufactured by Scotts and also Schultz. They require lots of Phosphhorus which is why the middle number is so high. "Feed weakly - weekly" is advice of the American Orchid Society.
