AOA friends!
Slumber is over and i am getting back into gardening.
Last six months have been a real roller coaster, from risalpur to karachi and then finally ending up in Mianwali last September.(awful place for gardening, resource wise. Weather wise milder than Risalpur)
I settled down around November end, space here with me is much bigger, but time is lesser and lesser. Frontal lawn is more formal in design, with a broad lawn and fewer borders and not to mention dearth of sunlight due to tall trees all around. (despite being south facing location)
I decided to cultivate the front area with more formal design this time. it was in awful state. Poorly cultivated, no plantation except some cannas, tall tree and lawn which was mostly crabgrass.
Preparation of beds was first, side by side i planted some annuals, mostly petunias and couple of others such as cinerarias for shady areas, as i am looking for things that can tolerate neglect.
Lawn was improved through extensive weeding and laying of turf( out of season attempt).
then was the rose plunge. Inspired by Rafique Bhai, i started to acquire roses, and finally the quest took me to Pattoki (alongside Rafique bhai) to changa nursery and was i amazed at the beauty, size and variety of roses. Finally ended up planting around 125 rose bushes, in a cramped up area. I hope they farewell in times to come and i learn the art of faring them through hot summers, of which i believe might be only few....here in mianwali.
lets see how the season progresses. Good to be back though i never lost track......
