Re: Project Spring 2014
gerbera jamesonii...it will be a good experiment because my personal experience is that gerbera seeds after 7 days become dead so they are sown fresh in march till may.

Re: Project Spring 2014
Regarding Gerbera ...i think if that was the case it would never have been offered by sellers such as T & M as shipping itself takes more than 7 days, moreover in such cases recognized sellers do mention how soon to sow seed after reception.
Other case could be that they are somehow treated by vendors to make their viability last longer.

Re: Project Spring 2014
I guess this is first of finalized border. This would be Blue border with a tinch of white. Rough area of border is 25 Sq feet. Tall varieties are at the back.
All of these will be started in pots and later transplanted.
Suggestions will be appreciated

If the drawing is so good, one wonders how good the actual colours would be??
All look to be imported seeds.

Re: Project Spring 2014
Keep the tall towering annuals in the back border.mid tall in the mid row & dwarf in front border.don,t start from pots. One thing flowering time is very important.try to plant annuals which will bloom at the same time.Like Sonnet snap dragons in the back & petunias on the front.i hope you got my point brother. One thing more what will be your color scheme.Separate colors or mixed.

Re: Project Spring 2014
@Sir Munir...Just a theory for now
. Success is far stretched
@Umar Bhai.....i intend to start in pots because most are new species for me and i am not certain about their success. Starting in pots might give me a better chance and planting scheme as environment in pots can be controlled better, such as starting in compost mixes. Starting in Ordinary garden soil may reduce the chances of success as fungus still persists in October-November. Further more most cool season can resist transplanting. Umar Bhai this will be entirely blue scheme with two three punctuations of whites. All will be mixed this time. Snaps will form part of Hot(Red hues) border. This time i am trying chantily mixed Snaps.
@Tahir....its almost a Full sun border(sun light from morning till 1-2 PM). Further more moist soil conditions. Do you think all plants in this scheme are suited for this exposure?

Re: Project Spring 2014
Sunlight seems to be ok but i am concerned how will some plants like salvia and heliotrope will respond to the frost
Heliotrope is not frost hardy and will need some protection.. It is a native to Peru's warmer climate where it is a perennial. Salvia also doesn't like frost very much
