The Dream Of Life – Alan Watts

“If you awaken from this illusion and you understand that black implies white, self implies other, life implies death; or shall I say death implies life? You can feel yourself – not as a stranger in the world not as something here unprobational not as something that has arrived here by fluke, but you can begin to feel your own existence as absolutely fundamental. I am not trying to sell you on this idea in the sense of converting you to it, I want you to play with it. I want you to think of it’s possibilities, I am not trying to proof it. I am just putting it forward as a possibility of life to think about. So then – let’s suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream you wanted to dream, and that you could for example have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time, or any length of time you wanted to have. And you would naturally as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfil all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure during your sleep. And after several nights of 75 years of total pleasure each you would say “Well that was pretty great”. But now let’s have some surprise, let’s have a dream which isn’t under control, where something is gonna happen to me that I don’t know that’s gonna be. And you would dig that and would come out of that and you would say “Wow that was a close shave, wasn’t it?”. Then you would get more and more adventurous and you would make further and further out gambles what you would dream. And finally you would dream where you are now. You would dream the dream of the life that you are actually living today. That would be within the infinite multiplicity of choices you would have. Of playing that you weren’t god, because the whole nature of the godhead according to this idea is to play that he is not. So in this idea then, everybody is fundamentally the ultimate reality, not god in a politicly kingly sense, but god in the sense of being the self, the deep down whatever there is. And you are all that, only you are pretending you are not.” – Alan Watts

If Money did not Matter- Alan Watts

What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like?

Let’s suppose, I do this often in vocational guidance of students, they come to me and say, well, “we’re getting out of college and we have the faintest idea what we want to do”. So I always ask the question, “what would you like to do if money were no object? How would you really enjoy spending your life?”

Well, it’s so amazing as a result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students say well, we’d like to be painters, we’d like to be poets, we’d like to be writers, but as everybody knows you can’t earn any money that way. Or another person says well, I’d like to live an out-of-doors life and ride horses. I said you want to teach in a riding school? Let’s go through with it. What do you want to do?

When we finally got down to something, which the individual says he really wants to do, I will say to him, you do that and forget the money, because, if you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your time. You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you don’t like doing, which is stupid. Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way.

And after all, if you do really like what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter what it is, you can eventually turn it – you could eventually become a master of it. It’s the only way to become a master of something, to be really with it. And then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is. So don’t worry too much.

That’s everybody is – somebody is interested in everything, anything you can be interested in, you will find others will. But it’s absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don’t like, in order to go on spending things you don’t like, doing things you don’t like and to teach our children to follow in the same track.

See what we are doing, is we’re bringing up children and educating to live the same sort of lives we are living. In order that they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bringing up their children to bring up their children to do the same thing, so it’s all retch, and no vomit it never gets there.

And so, therefore, it’s so important to consider this question: What do I desire?

Update:-

Sand Mixture Sowing.
I have not seen better and quicker germination than sand but i would highly not recommend it. After germination seedlings tend to be lanky and not as fresh. Secondly I concur with Tahir's point of view that in shade sand does retain moisture. I have transplanted most sand started plants into ground to be on safer side. Hibiscus, Gazania failed to germinate in sandy mix, whereas foxglove died after germination. Back to compost then

MASHAHALLAH very fast growth rate mine are very slow.what is condition of babiana and Sparaxis.mine babiana are no more and only one sparaxis sprouted other are rotten.
