I lost my sweet autumn clematis in the soil bed, any body got any cuttings to share?

Two years back I have received two plants from USA but after an year of receiving both died. May be due to hot weather or some reason else. I can't explain.

I think it can survive the heat but suffers in monsoon humidity and rots, although i planted it deep so that it grows from any living part below soil, still it died. This time i intend to grow it in pot.
