Can Nursery be called a Garden?
Plant nurseries have all the things that apparently our gardens have....
Plants....Seeds and seedlings
All possible growing activities are carried out there.
All gardening activities/chores are carried out there
They are arranged in some order as well and sometimes in a very good manner to attract buyers....
can they be called gardens then?

Hmm, I guess not :-) because nurseries are supposed to sell young plants/ trees, whereas there is no restriction on the age of our plants in the garden.

well... it can be called a 'diverse greenhouse' but people like us make gardens who give home to plants not the ones who sell them off for profits..

Lets see the most authentic multivolume OED dictionary definition for a nursery:farhan137 wrote:Hmmmm Farooq Sb & Tahir Sb......meaningby you are saying that other than all the gardening activities.....there is something else which is required for a plant collection to be a garden........

A place where young plants or trees are grown until fit for transplantation; a collection of such plants (obsolete). In later use also: a place where plants are grown to be sold; a garden centre.
The Earliest known use: 1556, J. Withals Short Dict. A nourserye, or place, wherein groweth, or be kepte to increase yonge vines or trees
Then a garden is defined by OED as "An enclosed piece of ground devoted to the cultivation of flowers, fruit, or vegetables"
So business is associated with a nursery.

A nursery can be a section of a garden and not vice versa.

Re: Can Nursery be called a Garden?
Gardens usually evolve from nurseries.....
Nursery is transit for plants, waiting to be part of some garden.

@ Rafique Sb......hmmm interesting thought. One question exclusively from you
If i buy 100 plants from a nursery(their transit place) and plant/place in pot at my backyard.....will my backyard become a garden instantly? Please choose one option
a) Yes
b) No
BTW both are correct in their way. I just want to know your opinion.
