Hello All,

Please help.. some of my dianthus and phlox seedlings are getting yellow, then paperlike lifeless and the seedling eventually topples as in the case of damp off and dies... however, the gud thing is that new growth is still visible in such seedlings even if the yellow leaves fall off.. there are other seedlings in planters but they dont seem to have any such issue..

please advise what could be done or this is normal?

It could be:

1)High salts level in soil
2)High or very low pH
3)Recent use of fertlizer

i read it on the internet that over watering can make dianthus leaves pale but this is seen in phlox also in my case. i transplanted these into cups from seed trays with the base of coco coir and sand and the planting area consisting of compost and sand topped with a comparatively expensive compost. have lessen watering though.. hope these survive and grow.

Tip burning in most cases is due to excessive salts and fertilizers...

dont use chemical fertilizers in excess.. use a well drained potting soil..
