pumpkins in problem

i have almost 8 vines of pumpkin.they are on flower but each of them has only one pumpkin per plant. is that ok?
plus they are drying out starting close to the roots.
whats the problem and how can it be solved.\thanks

When there is no reply, it does not mean that nobody is willing to help. It most likely means that nobody has any suggestion (or a solution) at this moment. All of us are learners like you :-)

seems like nutrient deficiency and/or soil is too compact for growth of roots....

It was same with my pumpkin plant but you will note that your plant is taking new growth from other end which means your plant will keep on surviving. But if it is not so than you should really worry about them. If there is one fruit per plant than you are likely to get a larger pumpkin .
