1 teaspoon is just about enough in 5 liters, don't overdo chemical ferts they can be fatal to plants if not used properly.farah fayyaz wrote:Sorry, i didn't read my post carefully.I wanted to say i put 1tbsp in 5 litres.

.. When should each method be used ?
Sir the spraying method is effective if the plants are not under burning sun and in winters because the heat can burn the chemicals on the leaves and discolour or even kill the plant, in summer fertilizing with watering can is advised to minimize the damage.
.. Which is preferable ?
In my limited experience i have got better results by direct feeding with a watering can, i avoid spraying as it can temporarily or permanently discolour or burn the plant foliage
.. Recommended frequency of its application ?
For small seedlings it is not recommended that you use 20.20.20 formulation but you can add a small pinch of nitrogen ammonia granules in 1-2 liters and water them with that, for larger annuals use 20.20.20. after transplanting the seedlings every 20 days the above dosage and stop this when plants begin to flower, during flowering switch to high potash feed to maximize flowering potential but this can be a disastor if the quantities are not measured so if you feel the risk go with 20.20.20, for perennials fertilize during growing season only .
