allium pinball wizard, any one who has planted it ever? Please share your experience that is it possible in Islamabad, or Pakistani climate?

Allium Hardiness Zones are 4a-9b so allium can only be grown in hilly areas of Pakistan. In last winter Chanan Din had bulbs of allium sensation (Rs.150/bulb), allium sphaerocephalon (Rs.50/bulb) and allium moly yellow (Rs.50/bulb). You can try it by chilling the bulb at least 4 weeks by keeping it in fridge.

Dont know about the Onions but Garlic (Tulbaghia violacea) grows well and bloom in our region's heat.

Thanks for your kind replies. Well I am in Islamabad.So shall i give it a try? Is it for summer or winter?

Definitely, Allium is a winter bulb.

Alliums have very good chance of growing in Islamabad if bulbs are good. I bought these species mentioned by Mir Afzal but none of them flowered in lahore. I guess bulbs were not good enough. Some species of allium flower very good in Lahore as well. So you do give it a try in fall. If they do not flower in Islamabad, they will not do so in lahore as well.

And yes tulbaghia will surely flower in both lahore and islamabad although tulbaghia is not from allium piaz family.

You can also try flowering gingers if you get some good rhizomes.

My office colleague is growing it, he brought the bulbs from Czech republic.
