When do we cut back canna in Lahore. And how much to be cut in exact?

One Nursery man told to cut it to base when flowers of a shoot of Cana are withered or faded. is it correct or not ?

After sometime yes but not immediately as the leaves make food for the plant... when you see there are plenty of new shoots coming up them cut them from base with a sharp blade...

Leaves are naturally dieing on my plants. Why not cut them off. They are susceptible to fungus i guess?

If they are naturally dying then please go ahead and remove them...
