There are two types of basil.mohsin_zee wrote:any one please help me is there any difference between nayaz boo and tulsi I used to eat in UAE but i don't know its exact name.

1) The sweet basil is used in food for aromatic purposes in Western foods. It is called Ocimum basilicum or Niaz-boo. Its seeds are called tukh-malanga and are used in qulfis, falooda etc. You can recall those seeds as black seeds with a white jelly like covering.
2) Then there is a holy basil, Ocimum sanctum, sanctum in Latin for sacred, which the Hindus consider as a holy plant and probably worship it. It is called Tulsi in Hindi/ Urdu.
