Re: Fruit Trees for Lahore
Great, very informative input fellas. Much appreciated.
Am really glad to see that there are actually so many to choose from. Didn't know many of em and actually googled to see the pictures.
I wish i could plant em all but i guess for a residential house, orange tree would stand out / easier to manage?

Dear Usama, could you please share your experience as to where did you buy the plant? What are the things to care about while planting and how long does it takes to bear fruits?
Also, most importantly what is the best variety and how can one check it?
Cheers

While you wait for Usama's detailed reply, I ll chip in with little I know:
.. Good Varieties: Gola & Surahi- both are equally good.
.. Should bear fruit after 5-6 years. If started from the seed can take 11-12 years.
.. A delicate tree which will require cover in both winters & summers, during initial growth.Tried three times, but failed; will try again coming season.
Wish you success.

Re: Fruit Trees for Lahore
Thanks Munir for this important info. Seems like its a difficult deal to grow it but nevertheless no harm in trying. So Gola and Surahi are the best ones.

Re: Fruit Trees for Lahore
Munir is right.Gola & surahi are the two top class varieties grown in Pakistan these days.Gola is mostly grown on commercial bases because it is full of fruit every year.Surahi taste is extra ordinary but is not favored by professional growers as it dot yield to maximum every year.Remember always purchase layered plants for best results.Plants from seeds do not come true to the type & mostly the plants are of inferior quality( reverts back to wild species). Here at Mardan Lychee season has offed just before Ramzan.
