Re: My rooftop container garden
I have seen such systems in many countries but have never done it myself therefore my practical knowledge about installation and use is almost nil. Would love to be a spectator and learntalha.bin.ayub wrote:Plz feel free to suggest/advise to make the post more fruitful

Re: My rooftop container garden
There are very few people who have employed the in-ground sprinkler systems (quite expensive) for their farm houses etc. But PHA, DHA and Bahria town have installed these in their new projects at large scales. The PHA one that everyone in lahore can see is on ring road just before it turns toward new airport (all the green u see in this sultry weather is thanks to the sprinklers)
When it comes to drip irrigation use for domestic purposes u won't see alot of people employing it. The importers/sellers too won't have all the equipment to address domestic needs.
Their focus is on agriculture/commercial farmer. Hence finding components like 5 mm micro dripline can be difficult as it's not used in commercial ground farms

I have the main components, just need the 1/2 inch main laterals. I also got my stuff from the US when on an elective placement! And like you I also have a container garden and it is indeed tiresome to look after so many pots!
I have a question though mainly about filtration. Which filter are you using? I have a Y-type screen filter. But I have an algae problem since the pipe from the tank to the garden area is PVC. What would you recommend? How is your filter holding up?
Also, which tubing are u using for an individual pot, 1/2 or 1/4"?
Thanks!
Just an update to the problem of algae in pipes n hoses: this is something I learnt recently. It's open to critique.
Algae develops in pipes and hoses THAT ALLOW LIGHT TO PENETRATE THRU THEIR TUBING. Prevent that and you'll fix your algae issues. The good quality three layer hoses have an intermediate dark layer that stops light penetration thereby preventing algae formation.

Even black or blue ordinary pipes are good enough (experience)
