I think we need to device/study options for hot weather green houses........considering factors like humidity, ventilation, keeping temperatures low.......

Can we use Khas Ki Tatti for keeping temperatures low??

Since the plains of North India and Pakistan are both very hot and extremely dry during this season, water evaporates quite readily. Although this leads to the drying out of many ponds and lakes, the extreme dryness of the air is also easily exploited to create evaporation-based cooling systems. Any water reservoir used must also be shielded from the Loo and the sun, or it can rapidly be depleted.

I think this is cheap....caters for ventilation and humidity both besides temperature.

One drawback.......it tends to have algae and bacteria after few months so will require periodic replacement.

MaintIning greenhouses in warm climates will probably not be as challenging as in cold where winter is for months with ice and snow.

Sir i think cold weather greenhouse is of lesser concern to us as we only require to seal it with plastic/green sheet/panes, moreover our winters are comparatively milder. Its the killing heat which burns everything.

What bleak picture i am developing is

A structure with 40-50% opacity Green sheet to act as dappled shade.
Walls made of vetiver with pipes for water.
A raised water tank for supply of water. ( water tank could be filled with water once light is available ).....
Maybe one odd exhaust fan....
Water connection underneath roof for momentary sprinkle of water to further ensure moisture and watering plants.

What plants do you have specifically in mind for a hot weather greenhouse?

Khas ki tatti is a good idea but it will block light completely.

This thread was split from jade vine. I am thinking of perennial plants which can't survive our harsh summer or maybe starting seedlings for late summer planting. And tropicals which require moderate weather with lots of humidity.

How about we only make two side walls from vetivar?

Okay, thanks the context wasn't clear to me. I think we will have to examine the amount of light those plants need because khas will block 100%. Also with khas we will need a mechanism to water (or mist it frequently) it. We can check commercial products and see how they are designed to deal with hot weather and borrow their ideas.

Have you thought of a lacal MIST FAN ?
I am thinking of making an Orchid house useing one I already have.
