If you mean true almond then it doesn't grow in Karachi... if you are talking about Indian almond tree then it is a fast growing tree, easily grown from seeds..

Select the biggest and ripen fruit of Lal-badaam from vendors outside shopping malls... sow it whole in a pot, bury it 1 inch deep.. keep moist, it will sprout in 15-20 days inshaAllah.. it grows quickly so you should be prepared to re-pot it within a month after germination..

Are we talking about Terminalia Catapa.
I always wonder why it is called Badam tree? To me the fruit was never TASTY.
I prefer Terminalia Mantaly as an ornamantal tree.

Arif sahab "laal badaam" or Terminalia catappa is quite a popular fruit in Karachi/Sindh among the youth (eaten with salt / lemon ). The seed of this laal badaam contains the seed, which is edible and tastes exactly like an almond.
I have noticed that some laal badaams are sweet, and some trees produce bitter fruit. No wonder, the fruits which are sweet are always filled with larvae :-)

A ripe lal-badaam is very tasty.. a little black salt enhances the flavor.. knocking down lal-badaam from tree was one of the best time-pass activities during summer vacations in my childhood..
