From Rawalpindi

Post by WaqarKhan »

Hello Everyone....long time reader...first time....umm.....POSTer? (is that a word?)

I had tons of roses in my garden, which I just cut all the way to the bottom. So, I have lots of free space for next two-three months till the roses start growing again.

Please help me select a seasonal flowery plants for next two-three months,,,,keeping in my mind that its gets very cold here in December/January (below zero during nights...not very 15 during days)

I am thinking of Petunia; Pansies; and Anthurium? what do you thinK? Someone is suggesting me "Gul-e-Mashrafi", for shaded area in winter. I Have no idea what that plant is?
anyone?

It could be Gul-e-Ashrafi (Calendula officinalis)... it grows in full sun not shade.. imaptiens, begonia, Salvia, Coleus are for shade in this season..

Hi Waqar.like you i m also rose lover.to me its the queen of the flowers.for sunny locations select Anthrrhinum Sonnet series(14 in).the flowers have sheen in their colors.if you like dwarf plants then floral showers is for you.Petunia Ultra series(stars are much attractive),Hula hoop.for partial shade Pansy Mammoth or Majestic.if you want some thing different plant the clear faced crown series.for shady & wet location Mimulus.Mystic is the best variety.Coleus & impatiens are summer annual in Rawalpindi.if your garden is large enough try each variety in seperate color beds for max impact.
