Salam To All,

Post by Sayra »

HI , Iam saira from mustafa town in lahore.
i have a garden of 10 feet by 10 feet but it has trees on the sides that block half the sunlight daily,
n i can'y get it to cut down because they my neighbors tree.
I tried growing tomatoes first in pot, so the seedling comes out den i moved it to the garden area where the sun comes 4 hrs daily, but they are wilting n i don't know wat to do.
i have potatoes plant too and lets see if it grows bigger or wat cause cause i also moved it fro pot to ground.
I also tried growing coriander and sowed seeds but it remained useless.
Then i also tried mint and sowing stems but they wilted n died.
I also have a balcony that is 20 feet long and 3 feet wide with sunlight the whole day...i tried coriander there in pots and no success.
I recently moved here n opted for gardening as i love plants but can't the hang of it.
Please advice me what to do.

Welcome to the forum sayra :) Gardening is easy when you know how to do it right, your first problem about the wilting is that when you transplanted your tomato plants its roots faced shock and thats why the plant wilted jst give it a couple of days keep the plants out of direct sunlight and let them adjust to the new setting, if you have planted the tomatoes out in the ground where there is no shade give them a shade cloth for a few days support the cloth (preferably the green shade cloth the nurseries use) with bamboo canes, and apply jst a teaspoon of DAP fertilizer per plant, just scatter on the ground to get the roots a boost, do the same for potato plants.
when you plant corriander seeds just cover the seeds with coco coir which you ca find easily from any seed shop and water them from spray as to not disturb the seeds while germination by splashing of water the corriander will grow this way.
As for the mint buy fresh crisp mint from the vegetable hawker and use the leaves and dip the hard stems in water for a few days, change the water daily, in a few days you will see roots coming out of the stem plant them then and keep the pot in a shady area until new growth starts and the plants become established. :)

Im sorry for you loss of the other tomato plants, if the remaning plants are in good health feed them every 10 days with fertilizer and if they are indeterminate type of tomatoes use bamboo canes to support them as they grow taller otherwise if they are determinate bush type just leave them as they are, about fertilizing and care of tomatoes you can browse through topics on tomatoes in the Knowledge Hub section
Now about the potato if you have planted only a single potato tuber, leave it as it is and give it a few granules of DAP fertilizer to encourage good rooting system, if you have planted several tubers you will have to dig them up and plant the tubers indivdually spacing of at least 1-2 feet apart.
