I totally agree. I never thought my small roses and new amaryllis could take the heat but they tolerated a very bad summer in Lahore and actually didn't seem too bothered. Dwarf oleander is also very heat tolerant as is Tulbaghia but their flowers do NOT compare to roses and amaryllis.
