New organic pesticide
There's mixed news for bees this Wednesday morning. The Telegraph in the UK reports that scientists have developed a new "bio-pesticide" - combining Australian funnel web spider venom and lectin from snowdrops - that kills insects without harming honeybees. Crop pesticides are thought to have been behind a "catastrophic decline" in honeybees in recent years, the paper says.
