I hope the elders know the Flower "Rose of Jericho" commonly known as "Bibi Maryam ka Panjah"
It is an old Abrab Tradtion, to place this flower in a bowl of water,on the bed side, at the time of Child birth, it eases labor pains and a healty baby is born
Details of the plant.
Rose of Jericho, common name for two plants belonging to different families in the plant kingdom. One, an annual desert plant (Anastatica hierochuntica) of the family Cruciferae (mustard family), is native to Asia Minor.
It is a resurrection plant. The branches curl into a ball at maturity, after which the plant, in its native habitat, is blown about by the wind and the seeds are dispersed. The other, Odontospermum pygmaeum, is native to the same region
and also called rose of Jericho because of its similar properties. It is a member of the family Asteraceae (aster family). Both families are classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida. The Cruciferae is in the order
Capparales, and the Asteraceae is in the order Asterales.
This Christians take it as a holy plant, keep it in a bowl of Water in the house,to ward off evil spirits and bring Good Luck. They change water every Sunday
The plant is also mentioned in the Bible.
This plant and dry flower is available in Pakistan, so why not plant one ?
In the West this flower is sold for US $ 25.00
