Aoa, I have received some daylillies seeds from USA. They were harvested last year and kept in ref.
Keeping in mind climate of lahore I request for your guidance. When to sow ? how to sow? light, shade or darkness. All that you know would be of help as I have no experience.

Dear Sir, do you know which type of Daylilly they are as per foliage classification?

There are three types of Daylilies according to their foliage:

Dormant
Semi-evergreen
Evergreen

Only the dormant kind is unsuitable to hot regions, while S.ev.green and ev.green are just like Hippeastrums.

They dont require stratification, as suggested by many sites. Just sow them in a good mix, put them in dappled bright shade where air current is minimal. They will grow more quickly then Hippeastrums.

They are very tough plants and tolerate many adverse conditions like burning sun, drought, over watering etc

I have little experience in daylillies. I will try the method used by the friend who has gifted me the seeds, a few will be treated like Amaryllis.

Brig Sb, I got this info:

We have been growing daylilies from seed for the past 7 years now. What we would normally do is soak them in water with 1 table spoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide per quart. As soon as they start to sprout we shall sow all of them outdoor in cell tray. Some of them will take 7days to sprout while others could take as long as 3months.

As you said it is hot in your area you can try this with some of your seeds or you may choose to keep them for sowing later when it gets a bit colder.

As an experiment I floated a few seeds and kept them in my room temp. 30C. On 4th day they started germinating and are now in small pots. Tomorrow I will sow half of the remaining in trays like Amaryllis.
