There are some species which will grow in karachi and lahore for sure. I think we can get their seeds to start in fall. Adnan can input us on which species are most heat tolerant and easy to germinate as well.

By the way there is a lady in south africa growing more than 100 species of clematis in full sun having temps over 100F. Here is her link http://clematisbymarie.jimdo.com

She lives near Johannesburg (Google maps) where maximum temperature recorded was 35C (according to Wikipedia) and average maximum temperature is 22C.

Today Karachi is 33C and Lahore is 39C.

Be Patient friends.I imported 15 diff varieties of Clematis that include:

Viticella Royal Velours
Florida Sieboldii
Crystal Fountain
Gypsy Queen
Warsaw Nike
Ernest Markham
Montana Marjorie
Montana Mayleen etc.

I sold them away but kept 5 with myself and 15 are at my friend's home. We'll know by the end of July whether they can survive here or not.Mine are doing OK currently.

Some nurserymen bought a few vines from an importer in Karachi. If you are interested let me know so that I can get his contact no. for you.I imported 500 clematis vines a couple of months ago but sold them right away.If they survived,i'll be importing more in august.

They belong to colder climates so it's normal for a clematis seed to take anywhere from 1-3 months to germinate. You can always try cold stratification.Btw I ve small flowering sweet autumn clematis plants if someone is interested.
