Is this plant the Agave americana, the mis-named "century plant?"

who will wait for 35 years to see its flower? The picture I posted was of a plant grown 1977 and it flowered in 2012!

Simply curious if it is or not. I am sure Mr. Tahir Khan will have a definite answer when he sees this post

Yes that is ' Agave americana variegata ' to be exact, a very slow growing agave its other counterpart is the blue agave americana, Americana agave has many cultivars so it is often confusing when judging just by leaves, a flowering plant can give a better analysis

Your knowledge is both impressive and inspiring. Thank you very much for the guidance. I have several of these and not paid them much attention.When the weather improves, I should transfer them to larger containers

You can re-pot them now as monsoon is approaching and humid weather tends to rot the plant.
