It is a single plan, the plant was lanky when I bought it so I de haeaded after shifting it to a bigger pot and it responded well to a dose of dap and 2 two sprays of npk 20 - 20 - 20, the plant is now in the form of a small bush. The plant looks more like a perineal since the main stem has a sort of dry bark formed in it.

Something very specific to Murree...unfortunately it is not even flowering (which can give a clue)....

Can you recall the "crude" name by the nurseryman?

That solves the problem :-). It is Fuchsia plant.

The leaves are identical to Fuschia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fuschia_bloom.jpg

While the original pronunciation from the word's German origin is "fook-sya" /ˈfʊksja/, the standard pronunciation in English is "fyusha" /ˈfjuːʃə/. As a consequence, fuchsia is often misspelled as fuschia in English.

I tried them many years ago and again last year. Fuschia is a falure in Lahore. You may get a flower or two Igot a couple last year, the time of bloom is the time of its death in Lahore. For it to survive you must send it to a cooler place.

Ahmad Its Fuchisa.it will not survive the Lahore heat.max heat for this plant is 18-21C.I have already said in a thread started by Farhan about Shazad,s garden.Gardners in Islamabad shift this plant to Murree in summer & bring back to Islamabad in winter.its actually a summer flowering shrub in cool areas like Abbottabad,Galliyat,Murree & Swat.i have once enjoyed it at Abbottabad for about six years.i brought some soft wood cuttings from CMH Murree .Fuchsia is very easy to propgate but unfortunately not for us.i love the Swing Time double Fuchsia.
